About This Project
This sculpture is about the Madonna, the Mother of God. In Byzantine, Orthodox and Catholic tradition during art history up to the Renaissance, the Icons of Saint Mary express untouchability and confident supremacy. This stands in contrast to the dominating idea of girlish purity and virginity of later representations.
